Several Companies Respond to Field Fire in Harrington

On Monday September 26, 2022 at 1430 hrs. the Harrington Fire Company was alerted for a field fire in the 6100 Block of Milford-Harrington Hwy. While responding 50 Command advised a large column of smoke was visible and requested an additional Brush Unit and Engine out of the Houston Fire Co. 50 Command arrived on scene and confirmed a large fire in a cut corn field covering several acres and requested 4 additional brush units. The Farmington, Felton, Frederica and Carlisle (Milford) Fire Companies were then dispatched to assist. As Brush Units began arriving on scene, they began extinguishing the wind driven fire and prevented it from extending into an uncut corn field. The engines and tanker on scene were set up to re-fill the brush units. Unit operated on scene for approximately one hour before the scene was placed under control. Units then remained on scene for extensive overhaul. All units then cleared the scene. A special thanks to all our surrounding companies who provided assistance. UNITS ON SCENE: 50 Command, Ambulance C-50, Brush 50, Engine 50-1, Engine/Tanker 50-2, Utility 50-8, Brush 52-0, Brush 52-3, Brush 47, Brush 48, Brush 49, Traffic Control 49, Brush 42, Engine 42-3, Fire Police and Harrington PD.
