On Friday July 31, 2026 at 10:46 hours the Harrington Fire Company, Kent County EMS and Delaware State Police Aviation were dispatched to a vehicle accident with ejection on South DuPont Hwy. in the area of Fairgrounds Rd. Units arrived on scene to find a two vehicle accident involving a pick up truck and tractor trailer and confirmed one subject ejected. Rescue 47 (Farmington) was clearing a call in their district and 50 Command advised them to make the response to assist. Greenwood Fire Company EMS was also dispatched to assist with an ambulance due to Harrington Fire Company Ambulances committed to the Delaware State Fair. The subject that was ejected, who was the driver of the pick up truck and lone occupant of the pick up truck, was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the tractor trailer was transported by ambulance with minor injuries. Aviation unit was cancelled prior to arrival. Units then checked the vehicles for any hazards. 50 Command then placed the scene under control and all units cleared the scene. The scene was turned over to the Harrington Police Department and Delaware State Police for further investigation. Del-Dot and Fire Police remained on the scene assisting with traffic control. UNITS ON SCENE: 50 Command, Engine 50-5, Rescue 50, Brush 50, Rescue 47, Ambulances D-50 and A-78, KM-8, DSP Patrol Units, DSP CRU, DSP Truck Enforcement, Harrington PD, Fire Police and Del-Dot.
