On Monday January 14, 2019 at 5:42 am, the Harrington Fire Company, Kent County Paramedics and Delaware State Police Aviation were dispatched to a vehicle accident on South DuPont Hwy. north of Hammondtown Rd. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a single vehicle with heavy front end damage after striking the rear of a tractor trailer. The lone occupant of the vehicle was also trapped in the vehicle. Firefighters worked for approximately 18 minutes to free the trapped driver. After the driver was freed he was transported by Delaware State Police Aviation to Christiana Hospital for treatment. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured. The scene was then turned over to the Delaware State Police for investigation. Harrington Police assisted on scene and Del-Dot and Fire Police assisted with traffic control. OFFICER IN CHARGE: Fire Chief Robbie Brode.
