On Friday February 7, 2020 the Harrington Fire Company was busy responding to several alarms throughout their district as a severe storm with heavy rain and heavy winds came through the area. Beginning at 8:47 am the Harrington and Houston Fire Companies were dispatched to a Structure Fire at the Food Lion in the Midway Shopping Center. Firefighters arrived to find a fire in a rotisserie cooker that was extinguished by employees. The scene was quickly placed under control and all units cleared. As the storm moved through the area Harrington Firefighters responded to Electrical Hazards on Jackson Ditch Rd., Milford-Harrington Hwy., Doctor Smith Rd. and Walk Messick Rd. Units also responded to trees into residences on Clark St. and Raughley Hill Rd. Other alarms included assisting the Felton Fire Co. with a building fire at Lake Forest High School and a Structure Collapse on Hills Market Rd. No injuries were reported during any of the incidents. Additionally, Harringtons EMS crew handled 4 EMS calls during the storm. During the course of the storm Harrington Fire Fighters staffed 2 ambulances and 2 pieces of apparatus. Also a special thanks to the City of Harrington Public Works for assisting with trees down throughout the storm.
