House Fire in Harrington Upgraded

August 31, 2026

On Monday August 31, 2026 at 1517 hrs. the Harrington and Farmington Fire Companies were alerted for a residential structure fire on High St. in Harrington.  Units arrived on scene and were advised by the homeowner there was smoke coming from an outlet.  Crews began investigating and found and active fire in the wall and the call was then upgraded adding the Carlisle (Milford), Greenwood and Houton Fire Companies alone with Kent County EMS. The crew from the first engine stretched a hand line and established a water supply at a nearby hydrant. The crews quickly extinguished the fire and then checked for extension.  Crews also performed primary and secondary searches as well as ventilation.  The scene was then placed under control, and all units cleared the scene.  The damage was contained to the outlet and the area around the outlet.  UNITS ON SCENE:  Engines 50-4 and 78-3, Tower 50, Tower 42, Rescue 47, Rescue 52, Ambulance A-50, KM-8, Harrington PD and Fire Police.  OFFICER IN CHARGE:  3rd Asst.
