LaundroMat Fire

On Monday August 26, 2019 at approximately 11:00 am the Harrington and Houston Fire Companies were dispatched to a building fire at the Midway Laundry Mat in the Midway Shopping Center. 50 Command arrived on scene and reported smoke showing from the laundry mat which was in a single story Strip Mall. The alarm was then upgraded to a working alarm bring Carlisle Fire Co. (Milford) for the Ladder Company and Farmington Fire Co. for the Rescue Company along with Kent County EMS. Crews established a water supply and placed one hose line in service. Firefighters found the fire to be in a dryer and extending up the wall. The fire was quickly extinguished and brought under control. Crews then checked for extension in adjoining businesses and the roof. The scene was placed under control and all units remained on scene performing overhaul. After overhaul was complete all units cleared the scene and the scene was turned over to the property owner. UNITS ON SCENE: 50 Command, 50-4, 50-1, Tower 50, Rescue 50, A-50, B-50, A-52, 52-5, Tanker 52, Rescue 47, 47-4, Ladder 42, 42-4, KM-8, KM-5, Fire Police, City of Harrington Public Works, Delmarva Power and FM-28.
