MVC - S Dupont Hwy @ State Fair Blvd

On Friday August 21, 2020 at 17:10 hours the Harrington Fire Company, Farmington Fire Co. for the Rescue Assist, Kent County EMS and Delaware State Police Aviation were dispatched for a report of a vehicle accident with subjects trapped at the intersection of South DuPont Hwy. and State Fair Blvd.  Units arrived on scene to find a two vehicle accident with two subjects with serious injuries trapped in a vehicle.  A second aviation unit along with additional paramedic units were requested.  Due to the seriousness of the injuries, the two subjects were rapidly extricated from the vehicle and placed in the ambulances.  Both the injured subjects were then packaged and stabilized as much as possible and awaited the arrival of aviation units.  DSP Trooper 2 and DSP Trooper 4 both landed on South DuPont Hwy.  The injured subjects were then moved the helicopters and both were transported to Christiana Hospital for further treatment.  While enroute to Christiania Hospital one of the aviation units had to divert to Bayhealth Kent General due to the patient’s condition worsening.  Firefighters also secured both vehicles.  The driver of the second vehicle was not injured.  The scene was then placed under control and all units cleared the scene.  The scene was then turned over to the Delaware State Police for further investigation.  UNITS ON SCENE:  50 Command, Ambulances A-50 and B-50, Rescue 50, Rescue 47, Engine 50-1, Utility 50-8, Utility 47-7, Kent County Paramedics KM-5, KM-8, KM-10, Sussex County Paramedics 200 and 101, DSP Trooper 2 and Trooper 4, Delaware State Police Patrol Units, Delaware State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit, Harrington PD, Fire Police and Del-Dot.  OFFICER IN CHARGE:  Fire Chief Robbie Brode.
