Flooding - W Center St & Clarks Corner Apts

On Thursday September 3, 2020 at 11:46 pm the Harrington Fire Company was alerted for a service call at Heritage Manor Apartments for Flooding after a recent storm traveled through the area dropping a large amount of rain.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find the complex completely flooded and several apartments flooded as well.  Firefighter began making contact with residents.  Some residents chose to shelter in place and approximately 12 residents and 2 canines were taken to a temporary shelter at the Harrington Fire Company.  While searching one of the apartments firefighters found an unresponsive resident and determined that subject was in cardiac arrest.  The subject was immediately moved from the apartment to an awaiting ambulance in order to have a more suitable working environment.  The subject was then transported to a local hospital.  Delmarva Power arrived on scene and secured the power to the complex.  While units were operating on West Center St. firefighters were alerted to respond to Clarks Corner Apartments on Park Brown Rd. for Flooding.  Firefighters responded to Clarks Corner and found the parking lot completely flooded and areas surrounding the buildings were also flooded however none of the water made it into any apartments.  Both incidents were then placed under control and all units cleared the scenes and returned to the station.   The Red Cross responded to assist the evacuated subjects with temporary shelters. UNITS ON SCENE:  50 Command, Ambulance A-50 and B-50, Kent County EMS (KM-8), Utility 50-11, Harrington PD, Fire Police and Delmarva Power.  OFFICER IN CHARGE:  2nd Asst.
