Structure Fire - Messicks Rd

Sunday (02/28/2021), at approximately 1543hrs., the station was alerted for a residential structure fire in the unit block of Messicks Rd. Command responded a short time later with initial reports of a dryer fire within the residence. While responding, the Kent County 911 center advised they received additional calls and were upgrading to a working residential structure fire, adding mutual aid companies. Command arrived, confirming the report with fire showing. Engine 50-4 arrived and placed multiple hose lines in service and began knocking down the bulk of the fire and providing primary searches. As additional units arrived, crews were assigned to assist with suppression, ventilation, secondary searches, overhaul and RIT. After all visible fire was knocked down and searches were completed, crews remained on scene to overhaul the structure. Command placed the incident under control in approximately one hour. The scene was then turned over to the Delaware State Fire Marshals Office for investigation. Felton Fire Co. provided an engine cover up while units operated on the incident. Officer In Charge: Asst.
