Fatal Accident - Vernon Rd

On Monday July 26, 2021 at 7:19 am the Harrington Fire Company, Kent County EMS and Delaware State Police Aviation were dispatched to a vehicle accident on Vernon Rd. west of Whitelysburg Rd. While units were responding they were advised that police units were on scene confirming two priority 2 patients and one priority 4 patient that was heavily entrapped in the vehicle. Farmington Fire Company was then alerted for the rescue assist. Two patients were transported by ambulance to local hospitals for treatment. One patient was pronounced deceased on scene. Aviation units were cancelled prior to arrival. The scene was placed under control and units remained on scene assisting the Delaware State Police. The roadway was shut down for several hours. All units cleared the scene and the scene was turned over to the Delaware State Police for further investigation. UNITS ON SCENE: 50 Command, Ambulances A-50, B-50, Rescue 50, Rescue 47, KM-8, Fire Police, Del-Dot, DSP Patrol Units, DSP Accident Reconstruction Unit and Harrington PD. OFFICER IN CHARGE: Fire Chief Robbie Brode. Due to the severity of the accident and out of respect for all parties involved there will be no photos released.
