House Fire - Jackson Ditch Rd

On Friday September 3, 2021 at 12:40 am the Harrington Fire Company along with the Felton, Farmington and Carlisle (Milford) Fire Companies and Kent County EMS were dispatched to assist the Houston Fire Co. with a working house fire in the 3000 Block of Carpenter Bridge Rd.  Units arrived on scene and reported fire showing from the two story residence.  A 14 year old juvenile in the residence sustained severe burns and was flown to AI Dupont Hospital by DSP Trooper 2.  Another adult was transported by ambulance to local hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation and possible burns.  Crews placed several hand lines in service along with the master stream from Tower 50.  The scene was placed under control in approximately one hour and crews remained on scene for extensive overhaul.  The family was assisted by the Red Cross and the scene was turned over to the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office for investigation.  Delaware State Police and Harrington Police also assisted.  Harrington Fire Company responded with Tower 50, Engine 50-5, Engine/Tanker 50-2, Ambulance A-50 and Fire Police.  Incident Commander was Houston Fire Company Chief Delbert Ross.  We ask that you keep the family of the injured subjects and their families in your thoughts and prayers.  Due to the severity of the incident no photos will be released.
