Harrington and Farmington Fire Companies respond to two accidents with Entrapment

On Saturday May 14, 2022 the Harrington and Farmington Fire Companies responded to two separate accidents with entrapment.  The first accident was reported at 11:55 hrs. and was reported to be on South Dupont Hwy. south of Tower Hill Rd.  Units arrived on scene to find a single vehicle overturned after hitting a utility pole and confirmed one subject trapped.  Units stabilized the vehicle and removed the roof of the vehicle.  The injured subject was packaged and transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.   The scene was then placed under control and the scene was turned over to the Delaware State Police for further investigation.  UNITS ON SCENE:  50 Command, Engine 50-1, Rescue 47, Rescue 50, Brush 50, Ambulances A-50 and C-50, KM-8, DSP, Harrington PD, Fire Police and Delaware Electric Co-op.  At 1711 hrs. both companies again were alerted for another accident with entrapment on South DuPont Hwy. and Hammondtown Rd.  Units arrived on scene to find a two vehicle accident with a total of four subjects injured and two subjects trapped.   Crews extricated the two trapped subjects and all the injured subjects were transported by ambulance to local hospitals for treatment.  The scene was placed under control and the scene was turned over to the Delaware State Police for further investigation.  UNITS ON SCENE:  50 Command, Rescue 50, Rescue 47, Engine 47-4, Engine 47-5, Ambulances A-50, C-50, A-52, A-78, KM-5, KM-8, KM-18, Medic 101, DSP, Harrington PD and Fire Police.  All aviation units were down during both incidents due to inclement weather.  Deputy Chief Kenny Brode had command of both incidents.
