Vehicle Accident Vernon Rd

On Tuesday August 23, 2022 at 11:47 am the Harrington Fire Company was alerted for and electrical hazard as a result of a vehicle accident in the 1800 Block of Vernon Rd.  Units arrived on scene to find a garbage truck had ran off the road and struck a utility pole.  The driver of the truck was able to self extricate prior to the arrival of the fire company.  The driver was evaluated on scene and refused transport.  Del-Dot was requested to respond to shut down Vernon Rd.  Delaware Electric Co-Op was also requested to respond due to the damaged pole.  The scene was then placed under control and all units cleared the scene.  Scene was turned over to Delaware State Police for further investigation. Del-Dot remained on scene shutting down the road.  UNITS ON SCENE:  50 Command, Ambulance A-50, Engine 50-1, Utility 50-8, Fire Police, Del-Dot and DSP.  OFFICER IN CHARGE:  Deputy Chief Kenny Brode.
