Building Fire Dunkin Donuts

On Wednesday August 24, 2022 at 18:48 hrs the Harrington, Farmington, Houston and Frederica Fire Companies along with Kent County EMS were dispatched to a commercial structure fire at the Dunkin Donuts located in the 17000 Block of South DuPont Hwy in Harrington.  Units arrived on scene to find a smoke condition inside the building.  Further investigation revealed that a fire had been intentionally set in a trash can inside a bathroom and the fire was contained to the trash can.  The scene was placed under control and Farmington, Houston and Frederica units were cancelled prior to arrival and Harrington units remained on scene ventilating the building.  The suspect in this fire was located nearby and taken into custody by FM-15 and Harrington PD.  All units then cleared the scene and the scene was turned over to the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office for further investigation.  UNITS ON SCENE:  Chief Vehicle, Command 50, Engine 50-4, Engine 50-1, Tower 50, Ambulance A-50, FM-15, Harrington PD and Fire Police.  OFFICER IN CHARGE:  Deputy Chief Kenny Brode.
