Harrington Fire Company Supports 2024 Delaware State Fair

The annual Delaware State Fair was held in Harrington from July 18th thru July 27th at the Delaware State Fairgrounds.  These 10 days are the busiest days of the year for the Volunteers and Career Staff of the Harrington Fire Company who are tasked with protecting the close to 300,00 visitors to the fair. During the 10 days of the Fair, EMS units are on the grounds from Noon to Midnight each day.  During these shifts units from the EMS Division staffed 2 gator crews along with 2 ambulance crews on the grounds.  An EMS Supervisor was also on the grounds each day. There was one or two EMS crews in the station 24 hours a day to handle EMS runs in the district.  During the 10 days of the fair EMS crews responded to numerous EMS calls on the fairgrounds and numerous EMS calls within the district.  Engine 50-5 was on the grounds five of the busier nights from 1600-2400 hrs.  The Duty Vehicle and Chief Vehicle were also staffed each night by the Deputy Chief and Fire Chief.  50-5 handled fire/rescue incidents on the fairgrounds along with responding to several incidents within the district.  Additional apparatus consisting of Brush 50 and Engine 50-4 were staffed nights that fireworks and pyrotechnics were held.  Also during most of the nights of the fair there was a duty crew at the station to staff apparatus.  We hope everyone that came to the fair had a safe and enjoyable experience and we look forward to seeing everyone in 2025!
