Working Structure Fire in Harrington

On Saturday September 21, 2024 at 0754 hours the Harrington Fire Company was alerted for a Residential Fire Alarm sounding at Heritage Manor Apartments located at 131 West Center St. Shortly after dispatch the call was upgraded to a working alarm adding Farmington, Houston and Greenwood Fire Companies along with Kent County EMS. Units arrived on scene and reported a single-story multi-family dwelling with fire showing. Command 50 located the occupant of residence on the patio and quickly removed the occupant to safety. As units arrived on scene they deployed hand lines, performed searches, ventilated and performed overhaul. Crews also checked adjoining apartments for extension. The scene was then placed under control and units remained on scene assisting the Fire Marshal. The Red Cross was also notified for the occupants of the building. All units cleared the scene, and the scene was turned over to the Delaware State Fire Marshal Office for Further investigation. UNITS ON SCENE: 50 Command, Engines 50-4, 50-1, 50-5, 52-5, 52-5, 47-4, 78-2, Tanker 47, Rescue 47, Rescue 50, Quint 78, Utilities 47-8 and 50-8, Ambulance C-50, KM-8, FM-15, FM-22, Harrington PD, Delmarva Power and Fire Police.
