Vehicle Accident with Entrapment in Harrington

On Friday October 4, 2024 at 1802 hrs. the Harrington and Farmington Fire Companies, Kent County EMS and Delaware State Police Aviation were dispatched to a vehicle accident with entrapment at the intersection of Vernon Rd. and Whitelysburg Rd.  Harrington units were participating in the Lake Forest High School Homecoming Parade and made a quick response.  Units arrived on scene to find a two vehicle accident with one subject trapped.  The trapped subject was quickly extricated and transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.  Four other subjects were evaluated on scene and refused treatment.  Crews then checked the vehicles for any hazards and cleared the roadway of debris.  DSP Trooper 2 was cancelled prior to arrival.  The scene was then placed under control and turned over to the Delaware State Police for further investigation.  UNITS ON SCENE:  Command 50, Engines 50-1 and 50-5, Rescue 50, Rescue 47, Ambulance B-78, KM-8, DSP and Fire Police.  OFFICER IN CHARGE:  Deputy Chief Robbie Brode.
