Structure Fire in Harrington with Smoke Showing

On Monday 12-29-2025 at 21:04 hours the Harrington Fire Company was alerted for a structure fire at 1204 Madison Ave in West Street Manor. 50 Command arrived and reported smoke showing from a single story apartment building. The call was then upgraded and the Farmington, Houston and Greenwood Fire Companies along with Kent County EMS were dispatched to assist. Command also reported there was possibly one subject still inside. The subject inside, who was elderly and blind was located and assisted safely outside. Crews arrived and placed one hand line in service and quickly located the fire in the kitchen on the stove. The fire was quickly extinguished. Crews then performed primary and secondary searches, ventilation and overhaul. Command then placed the scene under control and held the assignment to Harrington and Farmington units. All other units were cancelled prior to Arrival. The Red Cross was also contacted to assist the occupants. UNITS ON SCENE: 50 Command, Engines 50-1, 50-5, 47-4, Tower 50, Rescue 47, Ambulances B-50 and C-50, FM-28, KM-8, Harrington PD and Fire Police.
