Working House Fire in Harrington

On Sunday November 26, 2023 at 1440 hrs. the Harrington, Felton, Houston, Farmington and Carlisle (Milford) Fire Companies along with Kent County EMS were dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 100 Block of Rachel Dr. 50 Command arrived on scene and reported heavy smoke showing from a double wide manufactured home. 50-4 was the first unit to arrive and assumed first due engine and placed two handlines in service and also reported hoarding conditions inside the residence. Tower 50 arrived and assumed first due special with its crew splitting for ventilation and search and rescue. 48-4 arrived as the second due engine and supplied 50-4. As additional units arrived, they staged, and their manpower reported to the manpower pool. Both primary and secondary searched were negative and all utilities to the residence were secured. The scene was placed under control in approximately 1 hour and units remained on scene for overhaul. All units then cleared the scene and the scene was turned over to the Delaware State Fire Marshal for further investigation. One firefighter was transported from the scene to a local hospital after suffering a medical problem on scene. UNITS ON SCENE: 50 Command, 50-4, 50-1, Tower 50, Rescue 50, Brush 50, 50-8, A-50, C-50, 52-5, Tanker 52, Rescue 52, B-52, Tanker 47, Command 48, 48-4, 48-5, Command 42, 42-5, Tanker 42, KM-8, Delmarva Power, FM-13, FCI-1, FCI-2 and Fire Police. OFFICER IN CHARGE: Deputy Fire Chief Kenny Brode. Farmington Fire Co. 47-4 provided a stand by at the Harrington Fire Co. for the duration of the incident.
