Harrington Fire Company Responds to Fatal Motorcycle Accident

On Tuesday May 21, 2024 at 1612 hrs. the Harrington Fire Company, Kent County EMS and Delaware State Police Aviation were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle on Vernon Rd. (Rt. 14) in the area of Fox Hunters Rd.  Units arrived on scene and determined the accident was involving a motorcycle and a tractor trailer.  The operator of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased on scene and the driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.  DSP Aviation was cancelled prior to arrival.  Units remained on scene assisting with traffic control and debris cleanup.  The scene was then placed under control and all units cleared the scene.  The scene was then turned over to the Delaware State Police for investigation.  UNITS ON SCENE:  50 Command, Chief Vehicle, Engine 50-5, Ambulance A-50 and C-50, KM-8, DSP, Del-Dot and Fire Police.  OFFICER IN CHARGE:  Asst. Chief Derrick Brode. Due to the nature of the incident and out of respect for all parties involved no photos will be released of the incident.
