Chicken House Fire in Harrington

On Monday January 27, 2025 at 1057 hours the Harrington, Houston, Farmington, Greensboro (Caroline County, MD) and Greenwood Fire Companies along with Kent County EMS were dispatched for a chicken house fire in the 3300 block of Vernon Rd.   Units arrived on scene to find smoke showing from a chicken house.  Crews placed two hand lines and found several fires through out the chicken house.  Units extinguished the fire, ventilated the structure and performed overhaul.  The scene was placed under control in approximately 30 minutes.  The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Delaware State Fire Marshal Office.  

Units on scene:  50-4, 50-5, Tanker 50, Rescue 50, 50-8, B-50, 47-7, Tanker 47, 52-5,  Tanker 52, Quint 78, B-78, 603, FM-5 and Fire Police.  Ellendale Fire Co. stood by at Harrington.
