Commercial Structure Fire in Harrington
Monday, March 9, 2026

On Monday March 9, 2026 at 1922 hours the Harrington, Houston, Farmington, Carlisle (Milford) Fire Companies along with Kent County EMS were dispatched to a commercial structure file at the McDonalds located on South DuPont Hwy. in Harrington.  Units arrived on scene and were advised by employees that there was smoke coming from one of the vents inside the building.  Crews investigated and determined the smoke in the building was possibly caused by a malfunctioning HVAC unit on the roof.  The scene was then placed under control and all units cleared the scene.  The scene was then turned back over to employees.  UNITS ON SCENE:  50 Command, Engines 50-4, 47-4 and 52-5, Tower 50, Tower 42, Rescue 47, Tanker 50, Tanker 52, Tanker 47, Tanker 42, Ambulances A-50, D-50 and B-78, KM-8 and Fire Police.  OFFICER IN CHARGE:  1st Asst. Chief Derrick Brode.
